Saturday, October 10 - Home Team Mini-Tournament

The Minnesota RollerGirls (MNRG) are all geared up for another year of hard-hitting roller derby as their 12th Home Season Opener kicks off Saturday, October 10 at 7:30 p.m. The MNRG are hosting their third annual Home Team Mini-Tournament, where each of the four Minnesota RollerGirls home teams will face off in a round-robin tournament.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the first 200 fans to arrive will receive a limited edition t-shirt. Get there early for face-painting and activities in the lobby. Check out the live half-time show featuring Pocket Watch, and after the bout join the Minnesota RollerGirls at Camp Bar in Saint Paul for the official afterparty.

The MNRG are unpaid professionals and donate proceeds from each bout to charity. To date, the MNRG have donated more than $81,000 to local charities and organizations. Their season long charity is the Ann Bancroft Foundation's Let Me Play Grant which funds athletic and dance equipment or participation fees for girls ages five through high school graduation, giving them the opportunity to be part of a team, build strength and confidence, and push themselves farther - on the field and off.

This bout's door charity is the Minnesota Girls Baseball Association, whose mission is to open the door for female involvement with baseball as players, coaches, umpires, and fans. The Minnesota Girls Baseball Association was founded to help challenge gender barriers in the simplest way possible: by getting more girls to play baseball. They firmly believe that girls should have the option to play baseball if they want to instead of being channeled away from the game.

The Minnesota RollerGirls (MNRG) organization is an all-female, flat track roller derby league. Founded in August 2004 by the Donnelly sisters, the Minnesota RollerGirls are members of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), comprised of 329 leagues across the nation, in addition to 84 apprentice leagues. Every Minnesota RollerGirl is held to the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethics and good will and must adhere to rules set by the league and by WFTDA. The MNRG is governed by the skaters, for the skaters. Skaters are not paid and a portion of the proceeds raised by the league is contributed to local charities.
