Minnesota RollerGirls present "Roller Vortex" April 5
The Minnesota RollerGirls (MNRG) are gearing up for a blockbuster All-Star doubleheader against the No Coast Derby Girls of Lincoln, Nebraska on Saturday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. at The Legendary Roy Wilkins Auditorium in Saint Paul. First up, the MNRG B squad, Minnesota Nice, will take on the No Coast Road Warriors, followed immediately by the main event – the Minnesota RollerGirls All-Stars against the No Coast Derby Girls Mad Maxines.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the first 200 fans to arrive will receive a limited edition t-shirt. Be sure to check out the live half-time show featuring the Bratwurst Brothers, and the famous MNRG "black-eye booth" will be available throughout the bout giving fans a "black-eye" for $1 or team-themed face make-up for $2. After the bout, the Minnesota RollerGirls invite you to join them at Camp Bar in Saint Paul for the official after-party.
General admission tickets to the event are $13 in advance and $15 at the door. General admission floor-level tickets may be purchased in advance at the following locations: Ax-Man Surplus (St. Paul and St. Louis Park), Crafty Planet, Derby 4 All, Electric Fetus, Groveland Tap, O'Gara's, Pizza Lucé (all metro locations), and Shameless Inc. Outside ticket outlets will sell tickets until noon on the Friday before the bout, but fans may purchase tickets the day of the event at ticketmaster.com or through the Roy Wilkins Auditorium Box Office. The MNRG are unpaid professionals and donate proceeds from each bout to charity. To date, the MNRG have donated more than $64,000 to local charities and organizations. They are extremely proud to continue their reach by donating all monetary proceeds from this bout to the Ann Bancroft Foundation. The Ann Bancroft Foundation and its donors fund the “Let Me Play” sports and fitness grants, which “increase girls’ participation in sport and organized fitness activity by eliminating cost as a barrier.”
The Minnesota RollerGirls (MNRG) organization is a four-team, all-female, flat track roller derby league. Founded on August 31, 2004 by the Donnelly sisters, the Minnesota RollerGirls are members of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), comprised of 212 leagues across the nation, in addition to 83 apprentice leagues. Every Minnesota RollerGirl is held to the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethics and good will and must adhere to rules set by the league and by WFTDA. The MNRG is governed by the skaters, for the skaters. Skaters are not paid and a portion of the proceeds raised by the league is contributed to local charities.
