Wheelchair Rugby Tournament Coming to Roy Wilkins Auditorium March 6-8

Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, part of Allina Health, is proud to host the  2015 US Quad Rugby Association's (USQRA) Heartland Sectional, March 6-8, at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in Saint Paul. The sectional is part of the  Let's Play Hockey Expo weekend, featuring the Minnesota State High School League Boys' Hockey Tournament.

Quad (wheelchair) rugby is a simple, contact sport with complex strategies for playing both offense and defense. It is played with a volleyball on a basketball-size court. Six to eight teams from the Heartland region, including the Minnesota Steelheads, will be participating in the sectionals. The Steelheads include two Paralympians, Chuck Aoki (pictured above) and Jeromy Brown, who were members of the 2008 bronze medal team.

The USQRA is looking for volunteers for scoring, floor monitors, tournament greeters, tournament ambassadors, floor prep, set-up and breakdown. For more information on registering to become a tournament volunteer, please contact Sue Nyberg at 612-775-2724 or email  [email protected]

Other event sponsors include Let's Play Hockey, Explore Minnesota, Visit Saint Paul and Discover St. Louis Park. Watch for more information to come in February, including a complete schedule and teams expected to participate.
